LinuxConf.Au: upstart - an event-based init daemon for Linux

Upstart is an event-based init daemon replacement developed by Ubuntu and first deployed in Ubuntu 6.10 "The Edgy Eft". This talk will cover the design of upstart and the reasons for it, show exciting things that can be done with the system and hopefully encourage other distributions to consider adopting it as well.
