Dimensions of Reputation in Electronic Markets

Google Tech Talks
September 25, 2007

ABSTRACT

his is based on a pair of papers. The idea is that reputation systems in electronic markets capture complex and multidimensional information about seller ability. Buyers are also likely to value different dimensions differently. Simply reporting an average score seems narrow. The research identifies different dimensions by mining reputation text feedback, clustering it and scoring it using actual premiums in price sellers transact at. The first study estimates a series of econometric models to show how price variation can be explained better by this richer view of reputation (it also provides evidence that buyers actually care about different things). The second study builds a predictive model that uses the theory and techniques to predict future sales on Amazon.com.

Read more about this video…

Want to control this feed contents? Sign up here and create your own feed!

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Conferences, Companies, Science, Techtalks, Google, Amazon, Lectures

Microsoft MIX07: Amazon Web Services: Building a 'Web-Scale Computing' Architecture

Building a reliable, flexible architecture that can manage the unpredictable nature of today's internet business is challenging. Jeff Barr, Evangelist for Amazon Web Services, will provide the blueprint for 'Web-Scale Computing' - enabling you to utilize Amazon Web Services to build an elastic architecture that can quickly respond to demand. Barr will demonstrate code samples to show you how to build your application on Amazon Web Services' simple APIs. Barr will also showcase real companies who have built their web apps on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).

Read more about this video…

Want to control this feed contents? Sign up here and create your own feed!

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Conferences, Technologies, Companies, Business, MIX07, Web Services, Amazon
