Every week I receive a ton of email asking about different Photoshop techniques. One of the most requested techniques is how to change the color of an object (usually a shirt or car, etc.) and in this episode that question is answered.

We are going to use the Select Color Range command in Photoshop to achieve this color change and when we're done, you'll be amazed at just how easy it really is.

Read more about this video…

Want to control this feed contents? Sign up here and create your own feed!

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Broadcasting, Design, Screencasts, Photoshop

This week we'll be heading back into Photoshop CS3 in order to achieve a very cool look on our digital photos. The look we get with this technique is very unique and leaves a lot of room for customization.

There are several techniques out there that are similar to this one, but I believe this to be the superior method because all of the effects we've done to this photograph are completely non-destructive and customizable!

In this episode of Quicktips I show you how to crop in perspective using one of the often overlooked features of the crop tool. This is a great little trick that will allow you to rip photos from frames, take posters off walls, and even (as we see in this podcast) rip images from a computer screen.

Read more about this video…

Want to control this feed contents? Sign up here and create your own feed!

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Design, Screencasts, Photoshop

PS Quicktips Episode 47: Clip it Good

In this week’s episode we take a break from the CS3 "exclusive" content and get back into a creative mindset using clipping masks. This is a very popular technique that is used in all sorts of magazine ads, posters, invitations, and book covers. You’ll learn how to quickly "clip" your photographs into your text layer to create a very eye-catching effect, without harming any pixels in the image and keeping your text live and editable.

I’ve had several requests to create more content that will work in ALL versions of Photoshop and not just CS3. After some serious thinking I think I have a solution that will please everyone. I am going to do my best to create tutorials that apply to most versions of Photoshop (CS2, CS, and maybe even 7), however I cannot promise that I won’t have any CS3 specific content on the show at all. That being said, whenever I do cover a CS3 specific technique, I will (if at all possible) show how to achieve the same effect using older versions of Photoshop as well. This will make some episodes a little bit longer, but I think this is the overall best solution to the CS3 specific issues we’ve been having lately.

Read more about this video…

Want to control this feed contents? Sign up here and create your own feed!

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Design, Screencasts, Photoshop

PS Quicktips Episode 28: Grunge Collage

In this episode of Photoshop Quicktips we take a break from the CS3 Beta reviews and jump right back into Photoshop CS2 for a lesson in composition. In this tutorial I show you how to create a grunge collage by using a single photo and little bit of Photoshop magic.Hopefully our resolution issues have been resolved. The podcast is now in 640x480 format (double its original resolution) and as far as I know stil compatible with iPods. If you have any trouble viewing this episode or putting it on your iPod please post here on the blog. I really need feedback so that I know this new format is going to be acceptable. Thanks for your patience during this transitional phase.

Read more about this video…

Want to control this feed contents? Sign up here and create your own feed!

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Design, Screencasts, Photoshop

Here's another little feature that I absolutely love in the new CS3 Beta of Photoshop… The Print dialog box. I know this sounds weird for someone to have an infatuation with this particular dialog box but if you look closely, you'll see noticeable and time-saving improvements. No longer do we have to bother with the option of Print vs. Print with Preview. This truly is a one-stop shop for printing.

Read more about this video…

Want to control this feed contents? Sign up here and create your own feed!

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Design, Screencasts, Photoshop
