I used Inkscape version 0.47.

There are several applications and utilities to choose from in order to convert an RGB image to a CMYK image (Gimp w/Separate+ plugin, Scribus, and tifficc deserve mention) . In this screencast I show just two: Imagemagick and CMYKTool. For Imagemagick I have provided a text file with the commands that I used. Currently, my personal favorite is CMYKTool due to its simplicity with drag-n-drop.

NOTE: I made a mistake during the screencast when I converted the CMYK TIF to CMYK PDF with Imagemagick. I included an input sRGB color profile when that was absolutely unnecessary. I think I was paying more attention to the output color profile then what I had for the rest of the command. I believe it converted just fine but it might have confused a bunch of you. Whoops! I fixed this in the provide text file.

If anyone would like to post their current workflow for CMYK (if they have one) then please do.

by heathenx

Read more about this video…

Want more on these topics?
Browse the archive of posts filed under Broadcasting, Design, Screencasts

First a sample web site project is created with an external JavaScript file. A function() is created and the difference between using the function as a "function" and as a class constructor with the "new" keyword is discussed. Then public properties are added to the class constructor as well as private variables. Next a separate function is created and assigned as a method to the class. Alternatively, the same method is shown as a function defined in the class constructor. Finally, a private class method is created and used within the class constructor.

In addition, the styles are organized to provide maximum flexibility and reusability. A set of styles is created that focuses on the visual appearance of the site. First, a sample web site is created with a CSS file for a sample page. The first groups of styles created are oriented towards providing containers for content throughout the site. Next, a set of styles are added that focus on displaying the "state" of user interface elements. Finally, a set of styles for user interaction cues are created. Each of the styles is used with HTML elements on the sample page. There is also a discussion about using the same implementation approach for styles that control element layout on the site.

First, a sample application is created with a default controller and view for editing the information. Next, a second Index action is added to the controller which has an HttpPost attribute which restricts it to being called only when an HTTP POST is used. As a follow-up, the AcceptVerbs() attribute is implemented as an alternative syntax for Visual Studio 2008. A use of the HttpVerbs for preventing the security risk associated with using an HTTP GET to perform a delete from a link is then discussed.

First, a sample MVC application is created with a demo controller and view to test the custom HtmlHelper. Next, a module is created with a public function that is an extension method which represents the implementation of the custom HtmlHelper. The custom helper is for creating <img> tags in a page and receives several inbound parameters including the id, url, and alt text for the image tag. The logic is then added to the function for returning the completed <img> tag with the specified information. Then the custom HtmlHelper is used on the demo page to display an image. Finally, the custom HtmlHelper is expanded to include multiple constructor overrides which provide flexibility for more easily creating different <img> tags.

The partial views are then added to the demo view and the instance of the view model is used to easily pass the appropriate data down to the partial views. Finally, the uses of the concepts implemented in the sample in a more extensive MVC application are discussed.
