New Pocket Radar device packs an incredibly powerful radar gun into an ipod-sized device. The company claims it will measure speeds from 7mph to 375mph, up to about 300 feet away.

Marcelo da Luz, the creator and alternative energy enthusiast, embarqued on a quest to promote the use of clean and sustainable energy taking on the greatest challenge on the planet for a solar car: "the Arctic Circle". On June 12th 2008, the solar car began its journey from Buffalo, NY, arriving at the Arctic Circle 6 weeks later. It became the first solar car to reach the Arctic Circle, setting the world's distance record for a solar-powered vehicle. The car, referred to as XOF1, has never being plugged into the grid, crossing the continental divide 8 times, driving on over 1000 miles of gravel roads, taking on snow, ice, and the low angle of the Northern hemisphere during the wettest summer of the past 30 years in the region. XOF1 has turned heads from New York, Toronto, Buffalo to Alaska and Los Angeles. Residents in Palmer, Alaska called the police to report a UFO. The project's website is http://xof1.com/

Marcelo is a flight attendant with a background in marketing. He started the solar car project in 1999 with no budget. His vision, sparked by the first World Solar Challenge race in Australia, inspired in turn dozens of other individual and organizations to help him. By 2008, the car, "The Power of One", was ready to embark on the journey.

Marcelo was born in Brazil and, when he's not driving his car, lives in Toronto, Canada.
